Mother’s Day is this weekend and it’s one of the most popular holidays for floral arrangements. This year, why not give Mom some love with a one-of-a-kind bouquet created just for her?
Last weekend my daughters went to a Build A Bouquet Bar sponsored by Google Express and 1-800 Flowers. The event was held outdoors at the Corte Madera Village shopping center. A wide selection of beautiful flowers were available to choose from. There was lots of assistance from adults working the event to help the kids pick their flowers and to wrap up each bouquet, giving them a professional touch. The girls loved getting to be creative and you could tell they really felt a sense of pride about the gift they “made.”
A bouquet bar would be a fantastic project for a class activity, a club meeting or even a party! There are many occasions where giving a homemade bouquet would be a thoughtful gift – Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Grandparents’ Day, Teacher/Staff Appreciation. Budget-friendly flowers can be found at many grocery stores. Costco and Trader Joe’s are my go-to resources for affordable and in-season flowers. Other supplies like ribbons, tags, and craft paper can be purchased at craft stores or even purchased in bulk online.
Some ideas I took away from this event:
