Ballet and ballerinas is a classic party theme for good reason: dress-up, dance, imagination and music all add up to a delightful and darling party!
My daughters and I had the opportunity to attended a ballet playdate hosted by Southern Marin Mothers Club. It was a highly anticipated event at our house. My younger daughter was more excited for this afternoon than the trip we took to Disneyland!
The playdate was held at Tutu School in the Marin Country Mart and focused on the ballet Swan Lake.
The afternoon started with coloring time as families arrived. Then the instructors began reading the story of Swan Lake to the children, taking breaks to play pieces of music from the ballet. Guests had the chance to be just like the princess in the story by decorating their own tiaras with stick-on jewels and gems. A snack table with berry fruit salad and cupcakes allowed the dancers to take a well-earned break and recharge.
The relaxed nature of this event worked well for all ages. Sometimes the structure of an actual class can be frustrating or intimidating for younger children. Everyone at this playdate used their imaginations to feel the music and story. All the kids danced like a prima ballerinas!
