Fourth of July Tablescape

Fourth of July is this weekend and it’s the big Summer holiday. It doesn’t matter if you’re hosting a huge cookout or just lighting some sparklers in the backyard, festive decor makes any gathering feel like a party! Let’s talk about easy ways to fill your table with red white and blue.

It isn’t necessary to go out and buy a bunch of decorations that you’ll only put out once a year. Look around your house – you might be surprised by what you already own that fits the occasion. I’m ALWAYS raiding my Christmas decorations to pull out items for use year-round. Put those red placemats, strings of white lights, stars, garland and ornaments to use this July! Add inexpensive items like printed paper plates, streamers and color coordinated straws and your table will be full of patriotic flair without busting your budget. I like to stock up on seasonal items right before the holiday, when stores are usually marking them down to sale prices but the selection still hasn’t been picked bare.

I wanted our patio table to feel casual but still celebrate the holiday. The dinner plates, glasses and white table linens are basics I had on hand. The red striped table runner and silver glitter stars came out of my Christmas stash. The blue curly ribbons are repurposed decorations from a Frozen party I planned earlier this year and I pulled the blue and red candles from my Fiesta party supplies. The blue and white containers were a Target Dollar Bin buy. I placed a small glass jar inside each one to create simple flower arrangements from grocery store blooms.

Styling this table was so much fun! Our patio has never looked prettier. I love the classic summertime feel – makes me want to spend the day out there sipping lemonade with friends. Get creative and see what new ways you can come up with to reuse pieces and supplies you already own. Hey…if ya got it, flaunt it.

Happy 4th of July and happy summer entertaining!
